CLARINEX Grand Slam 2002

Rules

No player in the “AAA” division may be more than 18 years of age as of August 1, 2002. No player on teams that qualify as “AA” may be more than 18 years of age as of August 1, 2002. No player on teams in the “A” division may be more than 16 years of age as of August 1, 2002.
All tournament games are scheduled for seven innings, championship game included.
RUN RULE: Eight runs after five innings, fifteen runs after three innings, championship game included.
No pitching limitations.
Designated hitter for pitcher only.
Courtesy runner at any time for the catcher (only). The courtesy runner cannot be a player who is already in the lineup (even as DH) or has been removed from the lineup.
Crash rule is in effect (UMPIRE'S DISCRETION !!). All umpire's decisions are final. No protests will be considered.
Practice fields are available at Dean Evans Stadium, South High School and Central High School. Priority at Dean Evans will be given to teams having games in the time slot immediately following the practice time period (i.e., teams playing at 12:00pm will have priority during the 9:30am time frame).
Because of the number of games, there will be a TWO HOUR - FIFTEEN MINUTE TIME LIMIT. No new inning may start after the allotted time. (Exception: Semi-final and Championship games.)
Should a game be tied at the end of seven innings of play, or at the expiration of the two hour fifteen time time limit, the international tie-break rule shall be utilized. (The ninth batter scheduled to hit in the inning shall begin the inning as a runner at second base.) Exception: Semi-final and championship games.

If any teams have identical won-loss records after pool play, seeding in the championship round will be determined by the following tie breaker system:

2-Team Tie
a. Head to head.
b. Fewest runs allowed
c. Most runs scored (Max.10/game)
d. Coin flip.

More Than 2-Team Tie
a. Fewest runs allowed
b. Most runs scored (Max.10/game)
c. Head to head.
d. Coin flip.

Coin flip will determine home team in elimination tournament bracket play.
Teams should report for each game at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start time. No infield will be permitted before games. (Exception: if time allows. Infield practice will be allowed ONCE for each team prior to their FIRST GAME ONLY.)
The tournament committee reserves the right to disqualify teams or individuals for inappropriate behavior on or off the field. Please stress sportsmanship on the field and proper behavior in the motels, restaurants, etc. to your players, coaches and fans.
